CareCam
Not compatible: cloud-locked

Can you use a Ring camera for daycare parent viewing?

No. Ring cameras can't be used for daycare parent viewing. Ring is locked to Amazon's cloud and does not offer a local RTSP/ONVIF stream that a streaming system can pull.

Ring cameras (doorbells, Stick Up Cams, Indoor Cams) only send video to the Ring/Amazon cloud and the Ring app. There is no RTSP or ONVIF output, no local stream, and no supported way for third-party software to pull live video from them.

Sharing your Ring app login with daycare parents is not a workaround: every parent would see every camera (including your home cameras), there are no per-family permissions or viewing hours, and it almost certainly violates both your privacy obligations as a provider and Ring's terms.

That doesn't make Ring gear useless. It's fine home security. It just can't be the classroom-viewing camera.

What we recommend

Keep Ring for your doorbell and home security, and add one inexpensive RTSP camera per daycare room (Anpviz, Reolink, or Tapo, roughly $40–90 each). CareCam's appliance pulls those streams and gives each parent secure, schedule-limited access to just their child's room.

Ring daycare camera FAQ

Can daycare parents watch my Ring camera?
Not in any safe or supported way. Ring has no local RTSP/ONVIF stream, so parent-viewing platforms can't connect to it. Sharing your Ring app login would expose every camera in your home to every family, with no per-parent limits or viewing hours.
Does Ring support RTSP or ONVIF?
No. Ring cameras are cloud-only and do not expose RTSP or ONVIF streams. This applies across the Ring lineup, including doorbells, Stick Up Cams, and Indoor Cams.
What camera should I buy instead for my home daycare?
A budget RTSP/ONVIF camera per daycare room: Anpviz and Reolink (wired) or TP-Link Tapo (WiFi) are commonly recommended and cost roughly $40–90 per camera. They work with CareCam without replacing your Ring home-security setup.
