CareCam

Childcare camera app

Watch your child's daycare from your phone

CareCam gives parents a live view of their child's classroom from the app or any browser. Free for parents. Runs on cameras most daycares already have.

Free for parents • No subscription fee • Web browser access also available

What the CareCam app does

Designed for childcare — not repurposed from a generic camera platform.

  • iPhone & Android apps

Native apps in the App Store and Google Play. Or skip the download — the web interface works from any browser.

  • Live stream only

Parents see what's happening right now. No stored footage, no archives, no replay.

  • Enrollment-gated access

Each parent logs in with their own account and only sees classrooms their child is enrolled in.

  • Center-controlled hours

Streaming is only active during the hours your daycare enables — typically center operating hours.

  • No audio

Video only. No microphone. Simplifies consent compliance and protects classroom conversations.

  • Multi-classroom support

Centers connect multiple rooms. Parents with children in different classrooms can switch between feeds.

How it works for parents and directors

For parents

How to get camera access

CareCam is set up by your daycare — you just create an account and log in.

  1. 1

    Ask your daycare

CareCam is set up by the center director. If your daycare uses it, ask them to send you an invite.

  2. 2

    Check your email

You'll receive an invitation with a link to create your password-protected CareCam account.

  3. 3

Download the app or open the browser

Get CareCam on iOS or Android, or log in at app.carecam.io from any browser.

  4. 4

    Watch during approved hours

Tap the classroom to start the live stream. Available during the hours your center has set.

Your daycare doesn't have CareCam yet? Share carecam.io with your director. Most centers are live in less than a day.

Give parents the access they're asking for

No vendor installation. No long-term hardware contract. If you have IP cameras, you're probably ready.

  1. 1

    Connect your cameras

CareCam works with most IP cameras via RTSP. Enter your camera credentials in the dashboard — no new hardware needed in most cases.

  2. 2

    Create classrooms

Set up each classroom in CareCam and assign the camera stream to it.

  3. 3

    Set viewing hours

Define the hours parents can access the live feed — for example, 7am–6pm weekdays.

  4. 4

    Invite parents

Add each parent's email. CareCam sends them an invitation. You control which classrooms they can access.

How CareCam compares

Most childcare camera platforms lock you into proprietary hardware and a paid installer. CareCam is software-first — built for what you already have.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a CareCam app for iPhone?
Yes. Download CareCam from the App Store for iPhone and iPad. You can also watch directly in Safari without downloading anything.
Is there a CareCam app for Android?
Yes. CareCam is on Google Play. It works on all modern Android phones and tablets. The web interface at app.carecam.io also works in Chrome.
Do parents need to download an app?
No. The app is optional. Parents can use any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox — to log in and watch the live feed. The native app gives a slightly better experience but is not required.
What app does my daycare use to share cameras with parents?
If your daycare shares live camera access, they may use CareCam. Ask your director. If they don't offer parent camera access yet, share carecam.io with them — many centers are set up in less than a day.
Does the app work with cameras we already have?
Most IP cameras work with CareCam via RTSP. Tested brands include Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Amcrest, UniFi, and Hanwha. Enter the camera's RTSP URL in the CareCam dashboard to connect it.
How much does the parent app cost?
Nothing. The CareCam app is free for parents. Your daycare pays for the platform subscription, which starts at $29/month for small centers.
Can the app record or screenshot the stream?
CareCam does not offer a recording feature for parents. The stream is live-only. Screen recording outside the app may be technically possible but violates CareCam's terms of service and most daycare enrollment policies.
What if the stream isn't loading in the app?
Check that you're within the viewing hours your daycare has set. If it's within those hours, try refreshing or logging out and back in. If the issue persists, contact your daycare — they control the camera system.
