Daycare camera system

A daycare camera system that works with cameras you already have

CareCam connects your existing IP cameras to a secure parent-view streaming platform — no proprietary hardware, no vendor installation, and no public camera links.

What a daycare camera system actually does

A generic security camera records footage for the center. A daycare camera system goes further — it gives enrolled parents controlled live access to their child's classroom, within the boundaries your center sets.

  • Enrollment-based access

Parents only see classrooms their enrolled child attends — not every camera in the building.

  • Scheduled viewing windows

You define when streaming is active. Outside those hours, the feed is off.

  • No audio — by design

Video only. No microphone access. Simplifies consent compliance and protects classroom conversations.

  • Parent app + browser

Parents watch from the CareCam iOS or Android app, or any web browser — no special device needed.

  • No public camera links

Every stream is private and login-gated. No shareable URLs that could expose classroom footage.

  • You control access

Add or remove parents, adjust viewing hours, and disable streams at any time from the dashboard.

Compatible with cameras most centers already own

CareCam uses RTSP — the standard streaming protocol supported by most IP security cameras. If your cameras have RTSP enabled, you likely don't need to buy new hardware.

How to set up your daycare camera system

  1. 1

    Connect your cameras

Enter each camera's RTSP URL in the CareCam dashboard. You'll find this in your camera's settings or NVR interface. Tested brands include Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Amcrest, UniFi, and Hanwha.

  2. 2

    Create classrooms

Set up each room in CareCam and assign the corresponding camera stream. Give classrooms clear names parents will recognize — "Infant Room", "Toddler Room", "Pre-K".

  3. 3

    Configure viewing hours

Set the schedule when parents can access each classroom stream. Most centers match their operating hours — for example, weekdays 7am–6pm.

  4. 4

    Invite enrolled parents

Add each parent's email address in the dashboard. CareCam sends them an invitation to create their secure account and access only the classrooms their child attends.

Daycare camera system questions

What is a daycare camera system?
A daycare camera system connects cameras in childcare classrooms to a secure platform that enrolled parents can access from their phone or browser. Unlike a generic security camera setup, a daycare camera system includes parent access controls, enrollment-based permissions, and scheduled viewing windows — so only the right people see the right classrooms at the right times.
What cameras work with CareCam?
CareCam works with most IP cameras that support RTSP streaming. Tested and compatible brands include Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Amcrest, UniFi, and Hanwha. If your cameras have an RTSP URL, you can usually connect them to CareCam without purchasing new hardware.
How does a daycare set up CareCam?
You connect your existing IP cameras to CareCam by entering each camera's RTSP URL in the dashboard. Then you create classrooms, assign cameras to rooms, set viewing hours, and invite parents by email. Most centers complete setup in a few hours without any outside help.
Can parents record or screenshot the stream?
CareCam does not offer recording for parents. The stream is live-only. Screen recording outside the app may be technically possible but violates CareCam's terms and most center enrollment policies.
How much does a daycare camera system cost?
CareCam software plans start at $29/month for up to 4 cameras. If you already have compatible IP cameras, the software subscription is your only cost. New IP cameras typically run $80–$200 each if needed. See our pricing page for a full breakdown.
Do parents need to download an app?
No. Parents can use any browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox — to log in and watch. iOS and Android apps are available for a better experience but are optional.
