CareCam

Home daycare camera system

Secure live camera streaming for your home daycare

CareCam's Starter plan gives home daycare providers a secure parent-view streaming setup for up to 4 cameras at $29/month — with no professional installation required.

Why home daycare providers offer parent camera access

  • Build family trust faster

Parents choosing a home daycare take a personal leap of faith. Live camera access shows transparency that large centers can't always match.

  • Fewer check-in calls

Parents who can peek in during the day don't need to call to ask "how is she doing?" — especially in the first weeks.

  • Stand out from competitors

Most home daycares don't offer camera access. The ones that do have a real enrollment advantage when families are choosing.

  • Extra reassurance for infant families

Infant and toddler parents are the most anxious. Camera access addresses their biggest worry — especially during nap times.

The Starter plan — built for home daycare size

Home daycares typically need 1–4 cameras. The Starter plan is designed exactly for that — with no enterprise overhead or minimum commitment.

$29/month
  • Up to 4 cameras
  • Unlimited parent accounts
  • You set the viewing hours
  • Enrollment-based access (each parent sees only their child's room)
  • iOS, Android & browser — free for parents
  • Month-to-month — no contract

How to set up cameras in a home daycare

  1. 1

    Choose or confirm your cameras

If you have IP cameras with RTSP enabled (Reolink, Hikvision, Amcrest, Dahua, etc.) you can likely use them as-is. New cameras suitable for a home daycare cost $80–$150 each and install like a standard security camera.

  2. 2

    Connect cameras to CareCam

Enter each camera's RTSP URL in the CareCam dashboard. No specialized technical knowledge required — if you can follow step-by-step instructions, you can do this yourself.

  3. 3

    Set your viewing schedule

Decide when parents can view — typically your care hours. Outside those times, the stream is off. This gives you control and keeps the system appropriate.

  4. 4

    Invite families

Add each family's email. They receive an invitation to create their CareCam account and can watch from the free app or any browser. They only see the room their child is in.

Home daycare camera questions

Can a home daycare afford a camera system?
Yes. CareCam's Starter plan is $29/month for up to 4 cameras — designed specifically for home daycares and small programs. If you already have compatible IP cameras (Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, etc.), your setup cost is just the monthly subscription.
How many cameras does a home daycare need?
Most home daycares operate with 1–3 cameras — one per room where children are cared for. The Starter plan covers up to 4 cameras, which is enough for most home daycare setups including a main care room, outdoor area, and nap room.
Is a home daycare camera system legal?
In most states, yes — with proper disclosure to parents. Camera use in home daycares is generally permitted when families are notified. Requirements vary by state. See our guide on daycare camera privacy laws for a state-by-state overview.
Do I need a professional to install cameras?
Not with CareCam. If you have compatible IP cameras with RTSP enabled, you can connect them to CareCam yourself through the dashboard. No vendor installation required.
What cameras work with a home daycare setup?
Most IP cameras with RTSP support work, including Reolink, Amcrest, Hikvision, and Dahua models available for $80–$150 each. If you already have cameras installed, they likely work without any new hardware purchase.
Can parents watch from their phones?
Yes. Parents use the free CareCam app on iOS or Android, or any web browser. They log in with their own account and see only the rooms their child is enrolled in, during the hours you set.
