CareCam

Daycare security camera system

A daycare security camera system that reassures parents, too

The IP security cameras protecting your center can do a second job. CareCam adds secure, live, parent-view streaming on top of the cameras you already run — one camera investment, two jobs, no second system to install.

One camera system, two jobs

Most centers install security cameras for safety and liability — and stop there. With CareCam, those same cameras also become a transparency tool parents value, without replacing your security setup or adding a separate vendor.

Job 1 · Security (your cameras + NVR)

  • 24/7 coverage of classrooms, entrances, and play areas
  • Recorded footage on your own NVR for incident review
  • Evidence for liability questions and disputes
  • Theft, intruder, and access-point deterrence
  • Staff accountability and policy compliance

Job 2 · Parent transparency (CareCam)

  • Secure live view of only the classrooms a child attends
  • Login-gated — no public links, no shareable URLs
  • Scheduled viewing windows you control
  • Video only, no audio — by design
  • Fewer anxious calls; a real enrollment differentiator

Recording and retention stay with your center's NVR — CareCam is live-only and never stores footage. CareCam simply adds the secure parent layer on top.

Works with the security cameras most centers already own

CareCam uses RTSP — the standard streaming protocol supported by most IP security cameras. If your cameras have RTSP enabled, you likely don't need new hardware to add parent viewing.

How to add parent viewing to your security cameras

  1. 1

    Keep your security setup as-is

Your cameras keep recording to your NVR exactly as they do today. CareCam doesn't touch your recording, retention, or incident workflow — it reads a live stream from the same cameras.

  2. 2

    Connect the cameras to CareCam

Enter each camera's RTSP URL in the CareCam dashboard. You'll find it in the camera or NVR settings. Tested brands include Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Amcrest, UniFi, and Hanwha.

  3. 3

Choose which rooms parents can see

Map only the classroom cameras you want parents to access. Office, hallway, and entrance cameras stay security-only and are never exposed to parents.

  4. 4

    Set hours and invite parents

Define the viewing schedule per classroom, then invite enrolled parents by email. They get secure access to only their child's room, within the hours you set.

Daycare security camera system questions

What is a daycare security camera system?
A daycare security camera system is a set of IP cameras that monitor classrooms, entrances, hallways, and play areas for safety, incident review, and liability protection. The cameras typically record to an on-site NVR or recorder the center controls. CareCam adds a second layer on top of that same camera system: secure, live, parent-view streaming — so the cameras you install for security also reassure families.
Does CareCam record or store footage?
No. CareCam is live-only — it does not record, store, or retain video, and there are no shareable public links. Recording for security and incident review is handled by your center's own cameras and NVR/recorder, which you control. CareCam simply gives enrolled parents a secure, scheduled live view of the classrooms their child attends.
How is this different from a regular security camera system?
A regular security camera system only serves the center — staff and the director review footage. A daycare security camera system with CareCam does both jobs: the cameras still protect the center (recording to your NVR for incidents and liability), and the same cameras give enrolled parents controlled live access. You don't buy or install two separate systems.
What cameras work with CareCam?
CareCam works with most IP security cameras that support RTSP streaming — including Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Amcrest, UniFi, and Hanwha. If the security cameras you already have (or plan to install) support RTSP, you can usually connect them to CareCam without buying parent-view-specific hardware.
Can CareCam help with liability and incident disputes?
Your center's recorded footage (from your NVR) is what you'd review for an incident or dispute — CareCam does not change or store that. What CareCam adds is transparency: when parents can see classrooms live, day-to-day questions and anxious calls drop, and your security investment does double duty.
Is the parent live view secure?
Yes. Every stream is private and login-gated — there are no public URLs. Parents only see the classrooms their enrolled child attends, only within the viewing hours you set, and CareCam streams video only (no audio). You can add or remove parents and disable any stream from the dashboard at any time.
How much does it cost?
CareCam software plans start at $29/month for up to 4 cameras. If your security cameras are already installed and RTSP-compatible, the software subscription is your only added cost. New IP cameras, if needed, typically run $80–$200 each. See our pricing page for the full breakdown.
