CareCam
Not compatible: cloud-locked

Can you use a Arlo camera for daycare parent viewing?

No. Arlo cameras can't be used for daycare parent viewing. Arlo streams to its own cloud with no supported local RTSP/ONVIF output on current models.

Arlo's current lineup (Essential, Pro, Ultra) is built around the Arlo cloud and app. There is no supported RTSP or ONVIF stream for third-party systems to pull, and most Arlo cameras are battery-powered, which works against continuous daytime streaming even in principle.

Community workarounds for old discontinued Arlo base stations exist, but nothing you'd want a daycare's parent viewing to depend on.

What we recommend

Keep Arlo for outdoor and home security. For parent viewing, add one small camera in each room parents will watch. We recommend wired: a $40–90 Anpviz or Reolink PoE camera. Only reach for a $25–50 WiFi TP-Link Tapo if running a cable to that room genuinely isn't an option. We configure the parent side remotely: one login per family, limited to their child's room and your care hours.

Here's what that costs, all in

One room parents watch

$374–$399 to start

then $49/month

  • 1 plug-in camera you buy on Amazon
  • CareCam appliance, arrives pre-configured
  • Unlimited parent accounts, free for parents
  • You set the hours parents can watch

Two rooms parents watch

$399–$449 to start

then $49/month

  • 2 plug-in cameras you buy on Amazon
  • CareCam appliance, arrives pre-configured
  • Unlimited parent accounts, free for parents
  • You set the hours parents can watch

Starting cost is the $349 CareCam appliance (one-time) plus $25–$50 per plug-in camera, bought from Amazon so the hardware stays yours. Your Arlo cameras keep working exactly as they do now. Month-to-month after that, cancel anytime.

Arlo daycare camera FAQ

Does Arlo support RTSP or ONVIF?
No. Current Arlo cameras stream only to Arlo's cloud, with no supported local RTSP/ONVIF output for third-party platforms.
Can daycare parents watch my Arlo camera?
No. There's no stream a parent-viewing platform can pull, and sharing your Arlo app account would expose all your cameras with no per-family scoping or viewing hours.
What camera works instead for a home daycare?
A wired PoE camera, Anpviz or Reolink (roughly $40–90), is what we recommend. A WiFi TP-Link Tapo (~$25–50) works only if the room can't be wired. CareCam pulls the stream and manages parent access.
