Daycare video monitoring is simply a way for parents to see their child's classroom on camera during the day. It's the reassurance of a quick look in — not a security-surveillance archive and not a two-way calling system.

How daycare video monitoring is set up

The center does the setup once; parents just log in. No vendor install, no long-term hardware contract.

    Center connects cameras

    The daycare adds its IP cameras in the CareCam dashboard. Most RTSP-capable brands work, so there's usually no new hardware.

    The director creates each classroom and chooses the hours the live feed is available to parents.

What is daycare video monitoring?
It's a system that lets parents watch their child's classroom on camera while the child is in care. With CareCam, the daycare connects its existing cameras and parents open a live view from a phone or browser during approved hours. It's peace-of-mind viewing — not surveillance recording.
How do parents access the video monitoring?
The center invites each parent by email. Parents create a password-protected account, then watch from the CareCam app on iPhone or Android, or any web browser. Each parent only sees the classrooms their own child is enrolled in.
Is the video monitoring live or recorded?
Live-only by default. Parents see what's happening right now — no stored footage, archive, or replay. That keeps the focus on real-time peace of mind and reduces the data a center has to store and protect.
Does the monitoring include audio?
No. CareCam streams video only, with no microphone — by design. It simplifies consent and privacy compliance and protects classroom conversations.
Can parents talk to their child through the camera?
No. CareCam is view-only live monitoring, not a two-way video call. Parents can watch the classroom but cannot speak to or interact with the room — keeping it undisturbed and avoiding audio-consent issues.
Does it work with the cameras our daycare already has?
Usually, yes. CareCam supports most RTSP IP cameras — Hikvision, Hanwha, Dahua, Reolink, Amcrest, UniFi and more. The center enters the camera details in the dashboard, so most don't buy new hardware.
How much does daycare video monitoring cost?
It's free for parents — no parent subscription. The daycare pays the center plan, which starts at $29/month, with published pricing rather than quote-only.
Who controls when monitoring is on?
The center. Directors set the hours the live feed is available — typically operating hours — and choose which parents can access which classrooms. Outside those hours the feed is off.
